Words; suffering and benifits

22 08 2008

The other day my malay teacher was showing the class something scientific ( yes, it is malay class but this was really interesting).

She showed us two cups of rice white were sealed in rip-lock bags. One looked really dirty and mouldy while the other look considerably clean. She told us another teacher did this. This was her little science experiment. Everyday, she said nice things to one cup of rice(cup A) and horrid things to the other cup of rice(cup B). She did this for about a month. Both cups of rice turned mouldy. However, the rice in cup A looked a lot nicer and cleaner than the rice in cup B, which had turned all green.

According to my teacher, this experiment has already been scientifically proven ( by a University I do not recall). Imagine this not on rice but on humans. Call someone ugly, they will be ugly. Call someone beautiful and they would probably turn out really beautiful. That kinda makes you think about what comes out of your mouth doesn’t it?

Well, it certainly has made me think.

Thank you all you beautiful people out there for reading.

Solar eclipse this thursday/friday

30 07 2008

I have never really seen a solar eclipse. I would like to though. This upcoming solar eclipse will not appear in Singapore 😦 so I suggest to all who will be able to see it, don’t miss it. You get to watch an amazing sight. Take it in and really experience it to the fullest. Be grateful you can because there  are many people who don’t get to see it. Ever.

Did we exist yesterday?

27 07 2008

This is interesting. How do you know you existed yesterday? I think it is a pretty good question brought up by one of my teachers.  We had this class discussion on the matter. We kept voicing our arguments and my teacher kept rebutting.

How do you know you existed yesterday? You stayed up all night? Not very possible. I’m thinking about what my teacher. According to him, we wake up ever morning and we can’t confirm we existed yesterday.  Our memory of yesterday or of last month could be uploaded in to our brains( or something like that). It isn’t easy to explain. It’s like Sims. Starting a character from starch and the character doesn’t know he didn’t exist yesterday and we could be paused and played at any time. Strange concept, I know.

It was just a though. God could have a sims game loaded in his computer a long time ago and is controlling everything we do.

Random facts.

27 07 2008

I was feeling pretty random. So I searched the word ‘random’ on google. Here are some random facts and my opinion on them.

According to suicide statistics, Monday is the favored day for self-destruction. Everyone has got the Monday blues.:'(

It is believed that Shakespeare was 46 around the time that the King James Version of the Bible was written. In Psalms 46, the 46th word from the first word is shake and the 46th word from the last word is spear. Coincidence? I think not! *AHHH*

The most money ever paid for a cow in an auction was $1.3 million.  Who would pay that much for a cow???

There are 10 human body parts that are only 3 letters long (eye hip arm leg ear toe jaw rib lip gum). Who knew?

Elephants are the only mammals that can’t jump. If they could, you might feel the earth shake every time they did.

It doesn’t matter if you win or lose

19 07 2008

I participated in a Science competition today. We were suppose to play this game which requires us to manage a town in economy growth, population growth and pollution. There are many strageries to this game. Some work very well. Some work for alittle while and some don’t really work at all. It didn’t matter that my team didn’t win. I already told them ‘I don’t care if we win, I just don’t want to get disqualified’. We did do pretty well for the first few times, then our stragery screwed up somewhere.

Completely not the point tho. We didn’t win, yes, but we had the time of our lives managing a virtual town, practising good governance. We always get really worked up when we were given a tragerdy and we had to slove it.  We had fun. Yea we didn’t win. Who cares? It was an amasing experience I am proud to be apart of.
