Sports day, my way

8 08 2008

Today was sports day for my school which was held at Temasak Polytechnic.¬† I was participating in SAC Cup, which is something like human fussball. 5 players in a team and we kick a ball around trying to score goals. It is like street soccer only it is mini and players are attached to a string. I played goalie ( that means I could hold the ball with my hands ūüôā ). [Out of point].

Moments before our first match, a team mate asked if one of my class mates(A.S) ¬†could take over my position. I told her no. This was decided and confirmed weeks ago.¬† A.S wasn’t¬† suppose to play because she was on long term MC and although I was on MC too, I asked our P.E. teacher if it was perfectly fine with me playing, and she said yes. So I rushed to the sign up. I was like a little kid at Christmas, jumping up and down excitedly because i finally got what I wanted.

Now, just like a little kid, I didn’t want to lose what I desired. Usually, I would give in and say yes. However, being able¬†to participate in sports day for the first time in my very short life was something I would never toss a side, even to let someone else have fun. I give in to people too often to the extent that some of them take advantage of me and I didn’t want it to happen today. I ended up saving as many goals as possible. We won our first match, 2: 1 however lost our second match to the ‘masters’ of soccer 4:2. The second match was just like the match of Singapore versus Brazil a while back. We knew there was a big chance we lose but at least we scored.

I wonder what the scores would have been if A.S played.  Would we have lost? Would we have lost badly? Would we have won with a better score? It does matter because, after observing my classmates for about 8 months or so, many lack sporstmanship. The idea of them blaming me and Zana for the lost was not at the back of my mind. It was the first thing I thought after our second match. Good thing no arguements came about.

The important thing¬† is I had fun. In fact, I want to play next year too. Plus, my lesson learnt today: don’t give in to any one if it may cost you your happiness.

What is said stays…

29 07 2008

Secrets. Everyone has them. I love the pharse ‘What is said in this room, stays in this room’. It is a line that swears everyone in the room or discussion to secrecy. That means no one outside of the room knows whatever is said.

¬†I feel when you are sworn to secrecy, you might as well kept to that promise. Don’t open your big mouth. There are many secrets which the people trust you with. Respect your friends and kept those secrets.I know that some of the best arguments among friends usually happen because someone couldn’t keep a secret. Sad isn’t it?

President Bush going to attend Olympics opening ceremony

5 07 2008

I feel that Mr Bush is doing the right thing by attending the ceremony. I feel that all world leaders should attend the ceremony. The Olympics has very strong values and they are respect, excellence and friendship. All world leaders should respect the Olympic’s board decision to the 2008 Olympics in China and should attend the ceremony as a sing of respect towards the Olympic board. They should respect China and its leaders and the decisions they make although the world leaders may disagree with them. Respect should also be given to the athletes who have trained hard for the Olympics. The least the world leaders could do is to show up at the ceremony and give all the athletes the respect they deserve.

They next Olympic value is excellence. China has been given the opportunity to host the Olympics 2008 and they have been given the opportunity to show their excellence by hosting one of the greatest Olympics they can. World leaders are also tested on their excellence by showing up when China is in a bad state. World leaders need to set a good and excellent example for their people and they can do so by showing up at the opening ceremony.

The last and final value of the Olympics is friendship. I feel that this is the most important value in any community  and society. The Olympics brings people together from around the world, not only to compete but to become friends. All the athletes learn this value of friendship when they reach the stadium. The world leaders should set a good example . They should promote international and always support and help other countries in their darkest moments.

I hope that Singapore leaders will attend the ceremony.

Be the bestfriend you fall in love with in the end

1 06 2008

Girls, have you ever had a point in your life when you are friends with the guy of your dreams and he’s your bestfriend and one day he tells you about this girl he kissed. You feel like all your hopes and dreams have just been flushed down the drain. I had that feeling today… I tried to flirt then he told me about her and I just pretended I was happy and fine. Ha! I’m such a bad liar. Anyways here is a song you all might relate to.

If We Were A Movie lyricsUh Oh!

There you go again talking cinematic

Yeah you!

Your charming…
Got everybody star struck
I know how you always seem to go
For the obvious
instead of me
But get a ticket and you’ll see

if we were a movie
You’d be the right guy
And I’d be the best friend
That you’d fall in love with,
In the end we’d be laughing
Watching the sunset
Fade to black,
Show the names,
Play the happy song

Yeah,yeah
When you call me
I can hear it in your voice
Oh sure!
Wanna see me and tell me all about her
La la!
I’ll be acting through my tears
Guess you’ll never know
That I should win
an oscar for this scene I’m in

If we were a movie
You’d be the right guy
And I’d be the best friend
That you’d fall in love with,
In the end we’d be laughing
Watching the sunset
Fade to black,
Show the names,
Play the happy song,

Wish I could tell you there’s a twist
Some kind of hero in disguise
And we’re together,it’s for real
Now playin’
Wish I could tell you there’s a kiss
Like something more than in my mind
I see it could be amazing

If we were a movie
You’d be the right guy
And I’d be the best friend
That you’d fall in love with,
In the end we’d be laughing
Watching the sunset
Fade to black,
Show the names,
Play the happy song

If we were a movie
You’d be the right guy
And I’d be the best friend
That you’d fall in love with
In the end we’d be laughing
Watching the sunset
Fade to black,
Show the names,
Play the happy song

If we were a movie
You’d be the right guy
And I’d be the best friend
That you’d fall in love with,
In the end we’d be laughing
Watching the sunset
Fade to black,
Show the names,
Play the happy song
