Australia Trip 08: Entry 14-Arival in Canberra

21 12 2008

Greetings from Canberra everyone. I have great stories to tell you about and all of it happened today. We left Cairns at about 1 and this was after a delayed flight. So we got on the flight and made our way to Sydney. Sydney we had to give our original gate to an emergency landing then we had to run to our next flight (connecting flight from Cairns to Sydney then Sydney to Canberra) which left in about 15 minutes of our departure and luckily we got on it on time(PHEW). So we flew what was supposed to be 30 minutes which was a short flight. We landed and then they had trouble connecting the plane to the arrow bridge and while they took 10 minutes to get that connected the NICE cabin crew announced that 12 bags where still in Sydney. Now, guess who is waiting for her luggage to come in about 30 minutes now. They are bringing the bags to my Aunt’s. My sister mentioned that this way we don’t have to load the bags into the taxi.

Oh speaking about the taxi, the driver didn’t know where he was going and we ended up using his GPS thing to find the house.

Ok that is the personal part of my trip now. So far there isn’t much lessons. Not that I’ve spotted any.

Maybe expect today, at dinner my dad was going on to my aunt about all our previous places and when she asked about walking distances he was like ‘ getting these two to walk 15 minutes is very difficult’ WHAT THE HELL??? I can walk 15 minutes. Heck I can walk over 30.

Not the point. The points are ( yes points as in pural) don’t judge people. One can but one may not. You don’t know. You will never know because you never ask! And prove people wrong. Even in the smallest of incidents. Prove people wrong.

greatness is in the eyes of the beholder

You know people who are recognised for what they do? They are either mentioned in a book or are in a magazine or in the news? Have you ever looked at them and notice that they are people just like you? Then you ask yourself what they did to be so great?

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon ’em.

Jeez, thank you Shakespeare. Alright. Some ARE born great. We basically have almost no control over where or who we are born to. Notice that the phrase doesn’t tell you how to achieve greatness. It doesn’t even tell how to have greatness thrust upon you.  Don’t you love that about great phrases?

However, if being great means getting there without being myself, I rather not be great. I rather be me. Who defined greatness anyway.

Hang on.

I’ll look up greatness at

lalala…. here is it…Greatness..

  • the property possessed by something or someone of outstanding importance or eminence

Using this definition, I can say President Bush is great ( it’s a joke! I don’t think highly of Bush. I know what you are thinking…I am so not funny…).

I am just wondering. If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, wouldn’t it apply to greatness. Greatness is in the eyes of the beholder. Now that is something you don’t hear everyday. We should say that more often. HEY! I’m the first to say it!

SHHH! I am going to say it now!

Greatness is in the eyes of the beholder.

Just go exploring

Have you ever never realised something or a particular place until you are there and then you say to yourself ‘Man, this is so near my favorite shopping mall’? I just went through that today. My parents took me to Mout Faber to have dinner. It is suppose to be the highest peak in Singapore. It is really beautiful up there and I never knew where it was until today. I was up there and I saw Vivo city and I was like ‘How come I have never noticed this hill here before?’ I feel really bad saying this but it is true.

Singapore is small. Man the world is small. But there will forever be places you haven’t seen or visited before.

That is the lesson here. Just go exploring.
